The story
before the object.

In Nanjing, ronghua has been associated with festive dress and wedding adornment. Its name echoes ronghua, meaning glory or prosperity. A Nanjing government report describes its use in Ming and Qing celebrations and its recent revival through teaching and contemporary accessories. This page focuses on that living tradition, without presenting a precise ancient origin as settled fact.

What to look for

Silk fibres and fine wire create the soft, velvet-like surface. The visible softness comes from the material and its preparation. Wrapped satin-thread petals and ordinary pipe-cleaner flowers are different constructions.

The concept studies below interpret the material and mood. The sample photographs above show reference pieces whose precise construction remains to be checked.

A place in your life

A flower that holds the occasion

Fresh flowers mark a day and then fade. A silk flower offers another kind of keepsake: a small object to wear again when you want to remember the person or occasion behind it. Choose a colour for its personal meaning, and allow the gift to carry your own story.

A contemporary invitation from the studio

Begin with one small bloom

Use workshop-prepared silk elements for a first shaping and assembly exercise. Keep the first piece small; learn how to handle the fibres before designing a larger brooch. A complete traditional preparation process needs further instruction.

A finished piece to keep

Brooches, hair accessories and small floral stems.

An experience to develop

Pre-prepared silk components, followed by shaping and assembly. A pipe-cleaner flower is a different material adaptation, not traditional ronghua.

Through an illustrator’s eyes

Botanical shapes, a recognisable palette and wearable compositions.

These are development ideas. Products, kits and video classes are not currently offered for purchase.

A flower to keep.
A skill to grow.

We are sampling materials and planning recorded lessons in which a real instructor will demonstrate each step on camera. These are proposed products and target prices, not items available to buy. Courses have not yet been recorded. The sample photographs are reference pieces, not confirmed products in these proposals. AI concept studies are labelled separately.

BEFORE YOUR FIRST FLOWER

Before your first flower

What are ronghua flowers made from?

Traditional ronghua uses silk fibres and fine wire to create its velvet-like surface. Ordinary pipe-cleaner flowers use different materials. Confirm the exact materials of any kit before ordering.

Can a beginner learn to make ronghua?

A small project with prepared silk components is a practical starting point. Our proposed first-flower experience focuses on shaping and assembly. The complete preparation process requires further practice; beginner timing is still being tested.

Are the lessons live or recorded?

We are developing six recorded lessons with a real instructor demonstrating each project on camera. This is a self-paced course concept. The videos, instructor and access arrangements have not yet been finalized.

Can I order a kit or finished piece now?

Not yet. Samples, kit contents, shipping and final prices are being confirmed. The prices shown are planning targets. Send a private enquiry to tell us which option interests you; the form does not take payment or reserve stock.
